Photos: Metallica Play Antarctica
As threatened, Metallica played at at the Carlini Station in Antarctica yesterday, Sunday, December 8. This magical winter wonderland event, which consisted of just ten songs, was streamed live online in certain parts of the world. Alas, as of right now, none of that footage seems to have found its way onto YouTube. However, the band has posted the below photos from the performance on their Facebook page. If you go open all your windows so your home is freezing and look at these photos and picture your favorite Metallica songs being played in bizarre time signatures with really off-key vocals, it will be just like you were there!
You can see more photos here.
And here was the setlist, if you’re curious… the fact that they didn’t play “Trapped Under Ice” is just like a total “HUH?!?” thing to me. First they release a move called Through the Never that doesn’t feature the song “Through the Never,” now this. GET IT TOGETHER, METALLICA.
- “Creeping Death”
- “For Whom the Bell Tolls”
- “Sad But True”
- “Welcome Home (Sanitarium)”
- “Master of Puppets”
- “One”
- “Blackened”
- “Nothing Else Matters”
- “Enter Sandman”
- “Seek & Destroy”
