Listen to Three Minutes of Periphery’s New “Experimental Recording,” Clear
The metal world didn’t stop turning yesterday while the staff of MetalSucks all fellated one another with our Best of 2013 lists? Shit. Periphery should’ve read our minds and known better than to release something important on this day.
But alas: Maryland’s finest announced they’ll be releasing a new album in January entitled Clear, although it is not to be confused with the band’s eventual third full-length album which they’re still working on. They’re billing Clear as an “experimental recording,” a stop-gap release of sorts. It will contain 30 minutes of music, with one full track written by each of the band’s six members. Here’s a three minute video containing a clip of each of those tracks with a separate “Overture” intro track (Dream Theater style!) that ties it all together:
The above doesn’t contain quite enough of each song to really get a feel for each guy’s writing style, although you can kind of get some idea of where each of them are going. I look forward to digging in with this one — it’s a really cool idea. Pre-order Clear here; it comes out January 28th.
