A Perfect Circle Ready Greatest Hits Collection Spanning All Twenty-Five of Their Songs
A Perfect Circle have three studio albums, one of which features only a single original song; so not counting those eleven covers, their entire catalog consists of twenty-five songs. You could own every original piece of music APC ever released with the purchase of two albums and one digital single, the total of which would come to roughly sixteen dollars. It’s a good body of work, but it’s not a large body of work.
Which is why I am completely fucking baffled by this announcement:
“A Perfect Circle, the multi-platinum rock band helmed by Maynard James Keenan (TOOL, Puscifer) and Billy Howerdel (Ashes Divide), issue THREE SIXTY, the outfit’s first greatest hits collection, via Universal Music Enterprises (UMe) on Nov. 19.”
The thirteen-song single-disc edition of the collection — because there is a double-disc edition of a greatest hits compilation for a band that basically only has two albums — will include a studio recording of a “new” song called “By and Down,” which The PRP points out “they have played live on numerous occasions.” And two of the songs included will be from the aforementioned covers disc, eMotive. So this one disc will contain 44% of all of A Perfect Circle’s original material. For some bands, that would be a freakin’ box set.
So anyway yeah I dunno who the hell this thing for. Ridiculous.
