“Pour Le Merité”: Hail of Bullets Win the Award for Best Elephants Marching Riff of Tuesday Morning

Dutch death metal supergroup Hail of Bullets have released “Pour Le Merité” (“The Award For”), the first single from their new album, III: The Rommel Chronicles. And while my feelings about HoB in the past is that they’re one of the lesser-Martin Van Drunen projects, and for the most part, this song doesn’t do anything to change those feelings… except for the elephants marching riff which kicks in at the 1:35 mark. Granted, I am a total sucker for elephants marching riffs, as longtime readers are no doubt aware. But some things are terrific even when they’re kind of generic, like waffles and blowjobs.
