99 Metal Bands to Record “99 Bottles of Beer”
Here’s an idea that’s both totally hilarious and totally killer: although I have no idea what inspired them to do so, Fulgora bassist John Jarvis has revealed to MetalSucks that he and Cattle Decapitation bassist Derek Engemann have decided to record a new version of the world’s most annoying song, “99 Bottles of Beer”… with members from 99 different metal bands. The duo have apparently been collecting tracks for some time now, and already have gotten dudes from the following bands to participate:
Cannibal Corpse
Dying Fetus
Suffocation
Devourment
Misery Index
Fulgora
Cattle Decapitation
Cryptopsy
Cerebral Bore
Decrepit Birth
Unmerciful
Putrid Pile
Insidious Decrepancy
Cephalic Carnage
Murder Construct
Holy shit, that’s some list, ain’t it? Crazier still, it’s only a partial list — other, equally awesome bands, whose identities shall remain a mystery for now, will also take part in the project.
While this might sound kinda silly — and it is — I have a feeling that the results will still be insanely entertaining.
Jarvis and Engemann hope to have the recording completed and mixed by the end of the summer. The plan as of now is to release it as a b-side to the Boozehoundz EP from Engemann’s side project, The Houndz, which, oh hey wouldn’t cha know it, just so happens to feature backing vocals from Jarvis.
You can watch a short video from The Houndz below. We’ll keep you abreast of this bizarre-but-rad project as it continues to develop.
The plan is to release it as the b-sides to the “Boozehoundz” ep (I did backing vocals on every track) The Houndz are Derek from Cattle D’s side band
