Ghost Forced to Delay Release ofInfestissumam Due to Sacrilegious Illustration

If you’re counting the days until the release of Ghost’s Infestissumam, you’re gonna hafta count a few days more. The album’s April 9 release has been been delayed one week, to April 16, because, according to Spin:

“Four — four! — compact disc manufacturers have refused to print a piece of artwork that was destined for the deluxe version of the new album. The manufacturers all took issue with the sacrilegious imagery, forcing Ghost B.C. to quickly come up with an alternate plan.”

Here’s the artwork in question, in case you’re curious as to what all the hub-bub is about… I admit that this may have more to do with my own desensitisation to sex and violence and/or my own lack of belief that Jesus Christ was our lord and savior, but it really doesn’t seem that bad to me:

Which leads me to my next thought: what are the chances that this is all just a publicity stunt? I honestly don’t know the answer. But in a day and age where you can find people to mass produce adult DVDs with titles like (all following links NSFW, duh) The Anal Girls of Tobacco Road 2: Vagina Slimes, Amateurs Only #129: I’m a Brown Shit-Holed Whore, and Starved Fuck Sluts #22: Stinky White Women,  you’d think SOMEONE would have no problem manufacturing this artwork, wouldn’t you?

In any case, while the art will no longer appear in deluxe versions of the album, it will still be included with vinyl copies and European copies. So if you’re dying to own it, you’ll still get your shot.
