Dave Mustaine is Going to be a Featured Soloist with the San Diego Symphony
Let it never be said that Dave Mustaine’s career hasn’t been consistently interesting. The below comes from Megadeth’s official website
“Dave Mustaine will be a featured soloist with the San Diego Symphony in April, 2014, in a program that will include Wagner‘s ‘Ride of the Valkyries’ from ‘Die Walküre,’ Vivaldi‘s ‘Winter’ from ‘The Four Seasons’ and Dvorak’s Symphony No. 9 (the ‘New World’ Symphony). Executive director Edward ‘Ward’ Gill said it’s all about reaching new audiences, while music director Jahja Ling said he had a good meeting with Mustaine, and he may conduct the concert himself (no conductor is listed at this point, and Mustaine‘s exact involvement is still being worked out).”
Well, the piece by Wagner — who, infamously, was Adolf Hitler’s favorite composer — certainly seems appropriate. I honestly don’t know what to make of the rest of this, and to be honest, I wouldn’t be completely surprised if it never actually happened. If it does happen, though… I would really love to see the looks on the faces of San Diego Symphony season ticket holders when an abundance of long hairs in Vic Rattlehead merch (or maybe something slightly classier) come pouring in.
