The Ocean to Play Summer Slaughter?

According to The PRP, perennial MetalSucks faves The Ocean are rumored to be a part of this year’s edition of Summer Slaughter. I don’t know if this is based on anything beyond the band’s recent Facebook solicitation to get on the trek, or the fact that they’re on Metal Blade, who usually have a bunch of bands on Summer Slaughter, or some other piece of more reliable intelligence to which I am not privy. So, obviously, no one should get too excited until this actually, officially announced.

But it would pretty damn great if it were true.

Something else that I think is worth noting: The Dillinger Escape Plan have been rumored for Summer Slaughter since last year, and given that a) they have a new album coming out, b) have not yet announced tour plans for the summer, and c) are now on Sumerian, it seems likely that the rumor is true. I love DEP and The Ocean are great, too, so I don’t mean this as an insult: neither band exactly screams “SUMMER SLAUGHTER!” The tour always has an awesome bill, but it seems possible that this year may be more diverse than usual… which is fine by me!

We’ll let you know when/if this is confirmed. In the meantime, continue to get all hot n’ bothered over thoughts of The Ocean’s new album, Pelagial, which comes out April 30 on Metal Blade.
