Def Leppard’s Rick Allen is the Very Definition of “Handicapable”
It’s been almost thirty years since Def Leppard’s drummer, Rick Allen, learned the dangers of street racing the hard way. But Allen hasn’t let his handicap slow him down one bit, no sir! Since losing his left arm, not only has he continued to record and tour with Def Leppard — in fact, some of the band’s biggest hits, like Hysteria and Adrenalize, were made during Allen’s missing limb era — but he’s also learned to masturbate without being able to play with his balls or fast-forward through the boring parts of porn, and he’s even been arrested for spousal abuse! Yup — in 1995, he grabbed his wife and slammed her into a bathroom wall in LAX. And it was right around this point that The One-Armed Man who killed Dr. Richard Kimble’s wife was thinking, “Bravo, sir! Bravo! You, my friend, are an inspiration to us all!”
Well, prepare to feel even more inspireder: from March 22 to April 10, Allen make his fine-art debut as the subject of Electric Hand: Rhythm + Change, which will spotlight his entire collection of canvas paintings at The Louvre! Oh, no, wait, sorry, I misread that — it will spotlight his entire collection of canvas paintings at Martin Lawrence Galleries at the Forum Shops in Las Vegas! See, and I thought Martin Lawrence was just a great actor, not an appreciator of other fine arts as well. It really warms your heart to see two handicapable dudes like this teaming up to make the world an artier place, doesn’t it?
