Wormed Take a Trip Into “The Nonlocality Trilemma”

Time has been kind to Wormed, Spain’s reigning death metal champs: they’ve only gotten even heavier and even better in the ten years since they released their last album, Planisphaerium. A new song called “Nucleon” ripped our faces in half when it debuted at the top of January, and now we get another new song in the form of “The Nonlocality Trilemma,” currently streaming at NPR. If you find that song title confusing you’re certainly not alone, but the band anticipated your head-scratching with the following comment:

“The Nonlocality Trilemma” talks about the escape of Krighsu from planet Earth. This is one of the tracks where Krighsu begins to question life and the worth of his mission. Their extremely technological spacecraft takes off quickly and breaks the barrier of space time through the interstellar medium in seconds, leaving the solar system forever. Krighsu is one of the main characters in the Wormed concept. He represents the consciousness of humanity in a futuristic and technological context. He carries the human seed, and he’s the last hope of human life. The album in particular talks about the demise of the solar system and the universe in the year 8K. Krighsu is entrusted with the salvation of human life.

Well OK then! I was just focusing on the sick riffs and that fact that “Wormed” is such a perfect name for a band that sounds like this, but I guess there’s something here for everyone. At least these guys, unless someone else, realizes it’s all fantasy.
