Billboard is claiming that the recent addition of Metallica’s catalog to Spotify has negatively impacted their album sales (comparing this year to data from the weeks leading up to Christmas each of the last five years). Is it Spotify’s fault or just an overall downward trend in sales? If it’s Spotify’s fault, is that necessarily a bad thing? You decide.
