Life of Agony Guitarist’s Brooklyn Recording Studio Ruined by Sandy, Translator Audio Accepting Donations

Method of Groove Studio

Last week we reported that Translator Audio Studios in Brooklyn — owned by producer Andrew Schneider (Cave In, Made out of Babies, Converge, Keelhaul, etc) and Candiria’s John LaMacchia —  was destroyed when Hurricane Sandy’s floodwaters broached the banks of the nearby Gowanus Canal. Unfortunately Translator Audio wasn’t the only studio in the metal community to suffer complete devastation; Life of Agony guitarist Joey Zampanella’s Method of Groove Studio, which sits in the low-lying, coastal warehouse district downhill from Brooklyn’s Sunset Park neighborhood, suffered the same fate. Joey’s entire career’s worth of instruments and recording gear has been completely ruined.

Meanwhile, Translator Audio and its partners The South Sound and Civil Defense Studios have begun accepting donations. Those wishing to contribute to the relief effort can do so here. Intronaut’s forthcoming album was scheduled to be mixed at Translator Audio; no word on the new fate of that project.
