Nonexist’s Version of “In My Darkest Hour” is the Worst Megadeth Cover Ever
The Swedish supergroup Nonexist have released a cover of Megadeth’s “In My Darkest Hour,” and holy poo on stick, does it ever not work. I know some people think Dave Mustaine’s singing voice is completely ridiculous no matter what (as opposed to those of us who are only bothered by it in a live setting), but it’s hard for me to imagine anyone preferring the performance of Johan Liiva (ex-Arch Enemy) in this version… I mean, it sounds like a Saturday Night Live parody of a metal song.
And, hey, while we’re on the topic — tune didn’t need blast beats either, dudes. Or whatever the fuck that sound is after the first guitar solo. Holy shit.
You can listen to a much better Nonexist song, “Fire at Will,” at Metal Injection. The band’s new album, From My Cold Dead Hands, comes out November 2 on Pivotal Recordings.
