Matt Pinfield Gives Positive Update on Health: “Slowly but Surely Recovering”
Matt Pinfield is a metal staple. The rock personality and former MTV host was a key figure in the community for YEARS, so when he suiffered a stroke—which sent him into a two month long coma—it was obviously concerning news for literally every single reason. This past Friday (April 25), Pinfield shared an update on his recovery on his X (Twitter) account, along with upcoming plans to return to doing one of the things he does the best: being a huge goddamn voice in the music world.
“Slowly but surely recovering..lots of physical therapy. Fighting my way back!! One day at a time,” he wrote along with a screenshot from a Q104.3 FM article about an upcoming event he’s hosting. Green Day is getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on May 1, with Pinfield leading the ceremony.
Once he came out of his coma, he did an exclusive interview with The Hollywood Reporter where he said:
“Guys, I’m alive. I’m recovering and am going to come back swinging. I was unresponsive for two months. Friends were thinking they were coming to see me for the last time. The doctors never expected me to speak or to walk again.”
We’re glad to see Matt up and running again, and hosting Green Day’s Walk of Fame ceremony couldn’t be more of a perfect return to his hosting top. If you don’t live in the area but want to catch the goings on, the event will be livestreamed on the Walk of Fame’s website when it starts at 11:30 am PST. Along with Pinfield, tennis star and huge Green Day fan Serena Williams will make an appearance, as well as actor Ryan Reynolds.
