Sh*t That Comes Out Today: April 25, 2025
Damn it if these last four months don’t feel like the longest decade ever, eh? At least May’s around the corner, which means summer’s almost here and that’s awesome. Know what’s also awesome? The Mets sweeping the Phillies. (SUCK IT, PHILS!) Either way, there are some banger releases this week, so check out the new shit and let us know in the comments what you’ll be jamming this weekend!
Caliban
Back From Hell (Century Media)
Representing German deathcore, Caliban’s new offering is as heavy and pissed off as you’d expect, while also offering up some more melodic moments here and there. And we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention it’s also got some killer collabs with The Browning, Mental Cruelty, and Fit For An Autopsy’s Joe Bad in the mix.

Eluveitie
Ànv (Nuclear Blast)
Fans of melodic folk death metal are likely already are going to want to check out the latest offering from Eluveitie. Described by the band as a mix of bygone “classics” like “Luxtos” and “Inis Mona” with more modern sensibilities, this release sees the band take some steps at advancing their sound.

Ghost
Skeletá (Loma Vista Recordings)
It’s 9 a.m. when this post goes up and I’m sure the Ghost faithful will have already listened to this record a dozen times since it dropped overnight. For the rest of us, know that this is a massively successful continuation of their previous record Impera, in so much that it continues their love affair with 80s arena rock/metal. It’s definitely more on the side of solo Ozzy Osbourne, Journey, Bon Jovi than their heavier old Mercyful Fate meets Abba days. Chances are you already know if you love that or not.

Machine Head
UNATØNED (Nuclear Blast)
Look at that weird “O” with the slash through it. That must mean this new release from Machine Head ain’t fuckin’ around, right? Sure, in so far as it’s another Machine Head record. Robb Flynn can still right a damn good riff and the groove metal sensibilities remain front and center. Definitely worth pairing with the band’s whiskey bottled in glass shotguns or something.

Wednesday 13
Mid Death Crisis (Napalm Records)
Horror punk stalwart Wednesday 13 is back with his first new record since 2022’s Horrifier. As such, the “Duke of Spook” continues to leave all classiness at the door, instead bringing a brash level of sleeze and horror aesthetics to get a certain subsect of the metal music fandom exited. The band literally described this album as “campy, ‘leave-your-brain-at-the-door’” fun, so maybe don’t expect haute cuisine and you’ll enjoy your time!
