Code Orange’s Jami Morgan Explains Why the Band’s “On the Shelf”
It has been a minute since Code Orange released anything new. During a recent appearance on The Nik Nokturnal Podcast, vocalist Jami Morgan explained why things have been largely radio silent with the band for a while now.
“We don’t [have any plans]. Code Orange is on the shelf, and I think it’s there for a good reason, for many reasons. I think you can put two, two and four together, and you’ll probably come to the answer.”
Eagle-eyed fans may have noticed that co-vocalist and guitarist Reba Meyers has her own solo career going at the moment, having put out some inspired singles and gone on tour with Marilyn Manson. Similarly, guitarist-keyboardist Eric “Shade” Balderose put out an EP last year titled Nowhere2Run with a little help from Morgan as well.
With the various band members off doing their own thing right now, it’s no surprise that Code Orange has taken a bit of a back seat. Discussing the band’s previous full-length album The Above, Morgan revealed that the band was unable to really support the release when it first came out because their guitarist Dominic Landolina had been diagnosed with a genetic condition that made him unable to perform.
When speaking about that record, Morgan said he felt “artistically fulfilled” by it. At the end of the day, he said, the band will be back in some form.
“There was so much art and love put into the band, dude, and so much thought. And I think that over time, hopefully that’ll accrue, and maybe the trends and stuff will come around and swing to it. Because I do think it’s… I still hundred percent believe it’s very forward thinking, and I think it always kind of was, and I’m very proud of that. I’m very proud of it.”
