Gojira’s Mario Duplantier Impresses with New Drum Solo “Flood Tide”
This shouldn’t be a controversial take in the slightest, but Gojira‘s Mario Duplantier is one of the best drummers out there today. Dude’s absolutely insane behind the kit and the sort of shit he can do all by himself only serves to further cement his band as a frontrunner in metal today.
That’s why when he posted his newest drum solo late last night, it only served as a reminder that the dude is phenomenal. Now, I won’t go so far as to explain what he’s doing in the video because I’m a musical dumb ass and have no idea what a ghost note or a paradiddle is or anything like that. All I know is that the video is like pornography — you know it when you see it — and as such, I know this is impressive drum playing.
