Napalm Death’s Barney Greenway Was Sick at a Recent Show So They Played Without Him

0

A stroke of misfortune struck a recent Napalm Death show, as vocalist Barney Greenway was too sick to perform. Thankfully for those in attendance, the band went on to play as a three-piece and even got a fan or two on stage to sing instead.

The whole thing happened this past Monday while on the Savage Imperial Death March tour with the Melvins in Tucson, Arizona. According to Greenway himself, he was hit with some random stomach bug that sidelined him for that night. What’s a band to do at that point? Well, handle vocals yourself and even get at least one fan up on stage to fill in as well, of course.

As you can see in the video below, Napalm Death welcomed at least one fan up on stage and get behind the mic. It was a stop gap measure, for sure, but I can’t imagine what it felt like to go up there and play with legends like that.

Following the show, Greenway said he was doing better in the following statement:

“Hello everybody, sincere apologies to whoever came to the Tucson gig last night. I contracted some mystery gut thing on the morning, and was in enough discomfort to stop me from being able to do even a couple of lines of vocals last night. It never feels great to be missing gigs, but the other guys gave it more than a good go as usual. Sorry again. Lots of love.”

The rest of the band confirmed that Greenway was “all better now” and that they were “back on track”. And that’s good news, because the Savage Imperial Death March tour continues. You can find the full list of dates below.
