Watch: Wes Borland Turned Metallica’s “Orion” Into a Looped-Out and Trippy Tune

0

Starting later this month, nu-metal icons Limp Bizkit will share the stage with the one and only Metallica for the latest leg of the unending ‘M72 World Tour’. It’s been a minute since the two bands shared a stage together, but the level of admiration certainly hasn’t diminished over the years.

In fact, Limp Bizkit’s been known to play a Metallica tune or two on stage over the years. So it only makes sense that as the tour gets closer, Limp Bizkit guitarist Wes Borland would have a song from Metallica’s 1986 classic Master of Puppets on his mind. Hence the clip he posted over the weekend of him fucking around with loopers, delays, and whatever else he’s got on his effects board, to make a laid back, tripped out version of the instrumental track “Orion”.

Now, he doesn’t tackle the entire eight plus minute track, rather he focuses on the bluesy bit about halfway through the track. You know the one. What he makes is a cool, different take on the track.

While I doubt Borland plans to break out the little doodle on stage, it’s fun to see a guitarist of his caliber messing about with a classic tune. You can catch Limp Bizkit at any of the Metallica dates listed below (as well as any of the other openers that have lined up for the chance to play with the iconic thrash metal band) and grab your tickets today.
