The Callous Daoboys’ New Single “Distracted by The Mona Lisa” is a ‘Love Letter’ to Being in a Band

0

There’s a lot that goes into a touring band. Lots of time. Lots of energy. Lots of sacrifice. And while the price may be heavy, it’s worth it to the folks involved. In their latest single from their forthcoming album I Don’t Want To See You In Heaven, Atlanta-based band The Callous Daoboys plant their feet and say with their full chest that they’re in it for the long haul with “Distracted by The Mona Lisa”.

To that end, vocalist Carson Pace dives into the personal experience that shaped the new single.

“There have been countless times in my life where I have felt married to my passion. It’s been detrimental, painful, and has forced me to sacrifice a normal life. This song is me committing to being married to that passion, regardless of the consequences. It’s less a spit in the face of normality, and more a love letter to my own band.”

While primarily known to be off the deep end and wild, this new single is another instance of the band getting melodic and poppy at times. And while it’s a bit of a departure from this album’s first two singles “Two-Headed Trout” and “The Demon of Unreality Limping Like a Dog”, this new track feels like one of those tracks that fits in the grander scheme of the full record.

I Don’t Want To See You In Heaven will be available on May 16 via MNRK Heavy, but you can preorder this one right now.
