Metallica Teams Up With Red Cross to Run Blood Drives During Upcoming Tour Dates
In the lead up to the next leg of their M72 tour, Metallica has announced a new partnership between the American Red Cross and their foundation, All Within My Hands. This April, the band is creating space for fans to give blood at a select range of their tour dates. The partnership ties with their foundation, which is all about “supporting workforce education, the fight against hunger, and other critical local services.”
In general, holding blood drives is more than a way to get your hands on a free cookie. Instead, blood drives like the one Metallica’s foundation plans to put together can help prevent hospital patients from having to wait too long before receiving the critical care they need.
The blood donations are, of course, optional. And for those willing to give back, Metallica are handing out free limited edition t-shirts (until they run out).
The band shared on Instagram:
“We’re proud to announce we’re teaming up with the @americanredcross and our @allwithinmyhandsfoundation to host Red Cross x Metallica Blood Drives!
“New to this leg of the #M72 tour, you can give back by donating blood at select North American stops. Everyone who comes to give blood at these drives will receive a limited-edition T-shirt, while supplies last.

In response to this new partnership, the American Red Cross executive director of donors and sponsor marketing, Darren Irby, shared his gratitude:
