Kuma’s Corner Location Pulls Disturbed Menu Items Over Customer Complaints

0

Politics and music collide once again in one of the less expected arenas in our community — the burger joint. Over the weekend, the Indianapolis location of Kuma’s Corner took to social media to announce that they were pulling a cocktail and burger promotion based on Disturbed.

“After the discovery of recent events, we here at Kuma’s Corner Indy have decided to pull the Disturbed burger and cocktail promotion scheduled to run this weekend. We sincerely apologize this oversight on our end and the values expressed by this band are not a representation of Kuma’s as a brand. We are using this as an opportunity to expand our research further for future band collaborations. Thank you to our loyal customers for bringing these concerns to our attention.”

The weekend promo was in support of the band’s upcoming show on April 9 at the Gainsbridge Fieldhouse.

For those that don’t know, Kuma’s Corner is a mid-western burger chain that traffics in heavy metal inspired foods. Botch, Ghost, Gaerea, and so many more got their own signature burgers and whatnot for metalheads and normies to enjoy to their heart’s content.

Though Kuma’s Corner doesn’t go into detail about what the complaints were all about, only that they made the decision over “the discovery of recent events”, it’s pretty easy to guess what it could be. Throughout his entire career, Disturbed frontman David Draiman‘s been a huge supporter of Israel. Following the attacks on October 7, 2023 in which Hamas militants murdered and captured scores of Israelis at a music festival and villages bordering Gaza. In response, Israel has been committing a brutal campaign of collective punishment against Gaza’s civilians.

Despite the disproportionate death toll involving the entire populace and not just members of Hamas, Israel isn’t backing down on their stance. And Draiman has been a vocal supporter of that stance, having not only come out vocally in support of Israel’s actions, but also visiting occupying troops and signing bombs. Pro-Palestinian activists and metal fans have since lambasted Draiman for his support of what’s going on in the region.

So yeah, I’m willing to bet it’s about that.
