Code Orange’s Reba Meyers Dropped Her Second Solo Single with “Got Your Hold On Me”
When Code Orange guitarist/vocalist/songwriter Reba Meyers introduced the world to her solo music efforts with “Certain Uncertainty”, the one thing I pointed to was the track “Mirror” off the band’s 2023 record The Above. It was a moment that really showcased her capability as an artist to shine beyond the need to put out heavy ass-beaters all day.
This morning, Meyers returned to her solo efforts and released the second single “Got Your Hold On Me”. And once again, she’s eschewed the metalcore-ish sound of Code Orange for a more moody, sultry sonic palette.
“Being human is painful. Being human and in love with anything or anyone is even more painful I hope we can all find what helps us cope without it killing us or turning us into emotionless robots. For me, writing songs helps. Thanks for listening and to all who have supported me so far in any band or project.”
Along with the track’s release, Meyers also revealed that her solo album will come out some time later this year. Her decision to focus on her solo work, she said, stems largely from a maturity that comes with experience and age.
“I’m finding that I have the space only now in my life to have a bird’s eye view on my adolescence, and that perspective made it the perfect moment to begin to release solo material. A moment I’ve been sure would eventually come, thought I never knew exactly how it would look. With that, I get to experience the rewarding and nerve-wracking process of allowing myself the platform to be a more vulnerable person, and to explore that natural foundation proudly outside of how I’ve maybe been portrayed.”
