Converge Are Hitting the Studio for Their New Album This Week

0

It’s been two years since prog metal icons Converge released their deluxe edition of The Dusk In Us, a revised extended copy of their 2017 album. And while they shared The Poacher Diaries EP back in 2022, it’s been almost a decade since the band unleashed a new full-length project.

Over the last few months, Converge has been teasing fans with notes that new music is on the way. Having recently announced a string of tour dates around the U.S., today bears even more exciting news as frontman Jacob Bannon has confirmed they’re set to get back in the studio this week to begin curating their brand-new album.

Jacob recently shared on his Instagram that he has launched a new Substack to coincide with the making of the album. He wrote in the first post:

“My first offering on this platform is to be an in-depth look into the process of making an album—my personal reflection on everything that goes into it. I’m unsure how it will read, and I’ve come to terms with that uncertainty. Some entries will be heavy, others light; some will be artistic, while others might simply be descriptive. All of it is my account of the process as it evolves.

“I’ve never consistently journaled before, at least not in this way. Typically, I write in bursts when the mood strikes, chasing the muse and collecting epiphanies to sift through later. This will be different. I’m letting you into the space where my vulnerability and creativity intersect. I want to show you a more detailed picture of who I am—both personally and artistically. My hope is to connect with you on a deeper level as we capture the music, art, and lyrics and bring it to final form.

“The recording process begins this week.

“Join me on the journey.”
