Anthrax Will Resume Recording New Album Next Week
Anthrax gave us the pleasure of announcing they’re actually working on a new record, and that it’s allegedly supposed to come out sometime at the end of the year. But all that talk was months ago, and it seems they’ve been shooting the shit or doing some goddamn nonsense that caused them to put the recording on pause for a bit. But, huzzah! According to Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante, recording is set to resume this coming week.
He shared this delightful news about their long-awaited follow-up to 2016’s For All Kings in a post about their concert in Lima, Peru, over the weekend:
“I’ve been getting a lot of ‘when the new album?’ We won’t release a new album until [Tower Records] is back in business, fuck this streaming shit!
“Joking- Back to recording next week. We threw out a bunch of old tunes and made some new ones that destroy the older ones.
“I know it’s been a while and you’ve been very patient… it’s in the oven and cooking.”
Last month, the band’s singer Joey Belladonna gave us his own little update about how the recording sessions were going: “We have nine or ten songs — I forgot; I lost count — but I’ve got maybe two or three more to go, and then we’ll be done with the record. I’m still working on it. I haven’t finished it yet.”
Hurry up, y’all! I’m tryna hear the new shit right now!
