Primus Announce Onwards & Upwards Tour with New Drummer John Hoffman
Months after long-time drummer Tim “Herb” Alexander suddenly quit the legendary Californian alt-metal outfit Primus, they’re ready to get back out on the road for their newly announced Onwards & Upwards summer tour with their new drummer, John Hoffman.
The tour announcement follows their successful run of the Sessanta v2.0 tour around North America with A Perfect Circle and Puscifer and the announcement that frontman Les Claypool is selling his tour bus, “Large Marge.”
The Onwards & Upwards summer tour officially kicks off on July 5 at Paso Robles, California and comes to an end on August 8 in Sacramento, California. Throughout the tour’s extensive coast-to-coast, 24-date run across America, special guests American singer-songwriter Ty Segall and experimental session bassist MonoNeon will join the band on the tour for select dates.
Onwards & Upwards marks a new chapter for the boys as they officially welcomed new drummer Hoffman earlier this year. This was a decision Primus came to after working their way through 6,000 applications following Alexander’s departure. Hoffman officially made his debut in the band at Tool’s ‘Live In The Sand’ show earlier this month.
Fans can purchase pre-sale and VIP tickets starting tomorrow, March 26, at 10 a.m. local time. The general public will get a chance to purchase tickets at the same time on Friday, March 28.
