The Darkness Share New Single with Accompanying Video for “Hot on My Tail”
Stop what you’re doing. Everyone’s favourite guilty pleasure ‘rock’ band has dropped a new song. Today, British four-piece The Darkness has shared the fifth single lifted from their upcoming album, Dreams on Toast. “Hot on My Tail” is a smooth-sailing indie-folk song accompanied by a Western-style lyric video.
The band is set to release their 13th studio album Dreams on Toast, out via Cooking Vinyl, on Friday, June 28. As of this week, the group is embarking on an extensive headline tour, with sold-out dates across each UK venue. Fans can find the full U.K. tour list below.
Dreams on Toast follows the band’s first full-length project since their lockdown Streaming of a White Christmas (Live) compilation album. The album was produced by band member Dan Hawkins and perfectly captures the group’s quirky glam-rock traits.
Speaking about their new release, The Darkness frontman Justin Hawkins, explains:
“We live in complicated times. Our forebears understood the romantic power of a well-timed breaking of the wind accompanied by the rowdy trumpeting that should, by nature, accompany such glorious endeavour. In those heroic times, the ladyfolk were invariably amazed. Alas, relentless progress has driven a wedge between the sexes – a schism, if you will. Nowadays, when it comes to love, we gentlemen hide our flatulence in a guilty miasma of fear and despair. I am not here to judge. It is for you to decide… to clench or to be free. I sincerely hope that this exploration of the matter will help you to slide squeakily from the fence. Good day to you all.”
