Incubus Frontman Brandon Boyd Confirms Ninth Studio Album

0

After a slightly stagnant eight years, alt-metal five-some Incubus is finally set to return with their ninth studio album this October, says frontman Brandon Boyd in the latest interview with FluxFM.

The new album was produced by Brendan O’Brian – a name that O.G. Incubus fans won’t struggle to remember. O’Brian is a longtime collaborator of the band and has previously produced three albums between the years 2004 to 2011.

Talking about reuniting this partnership for the new album, Boyd expresses:

“He’s my favorite producer that I’ve ever worked with, and I’m so happy that we got to re-engage with him for this experience. It happened really fast, which is always a good sign for us. When an album comes together, like quickly, it means that we have gotten into a flow state of sorts.”

The as-yet-titled Incubus ninth studio album is one that’s been long awaited. The album follows their 2024 project Morning View XXIII, (a revision of their 2001 album). And will be the band’s first full-length of new material in almost a decade. Fans will be happy to know that the album is ready to go and can anticipate new releases in the run-up.

Broyd told FluxFM:

“We actually finished the album, I guess about, a little over two months ago. And it’s like mastered, it’s mixed, it’s just ready to go. We’re working on the artwork for it. The sad part about finishing the album in this day and age is that, as much as I would like to just put it out; I would love to put it out tomorrow, and we could put it out tomorrow, but it would get just lost in the shuffle of the internet, you know what I mean?”

He continues:

“And even if… we’re gonna do like setup work for it and it’s probably gonna come out in October. So there will be a single that’ll come out before October, probably in the next few months, there’ll be a single. …Even with all of the setup that we’re gonna do, it most likely will still get lost in the internet [laughs]. Because it’s the internet.”

Earlier this year, the band also announced a North American Morning View + The Hits tour with special guests Manchester Orchestra. The tour commences this June over several dates. A portion of the proceeds will be distributed to the charity Make Yourself Foundation in solidarity with the catastrophic events of the California wildfire.
