Despite Allegations, Possessed to Replace Deicide on Exodus’ ‘Swarm of Horror’ Tour
When Deicide announced they were dropping off the ‘Swarm of Horror Tour’ with Exodus, the question immediately became who would be filling in the massive vacancy on the bill. What I didn’t expect, however, was that death metal band Possessed would be the ones to do so. I mean, did people forget the allegations against their frontman Jeff Becerra that claim he asked a teenager for nude photos?!
Regardless of the fact that the announcement that Possessed were now on the tour has been bombarded with comments focusing on those allegations, it sounds like everyone involved is pretty stoked. Exodus’ post announcing the replacement sounds particularly excited:
“Welcome Possessed to the Swarm of Horror! They jumped on after Deicide had to pull off, we’ll see you in the pit with them and Misfire!!!”
You may recall that Deicide announced they were dropping off of the bill due to “scheduling conflicts.” It’s unclear whether the fact that Possessed is now in their slot will help or hurt the tour moving forward. After all, it should be noted that Becerra, a man in his 50s, said he his main mistake was “trying to be too cavalier about it, making too many jokes, especially when taken out of context” and that he only saw the 16-year-old girl “as a fan” in his response to the allegations.
