Premiere: Witchrot Go Straight for the Jugular with Their New Banger “Throat Cutter”

Having risen from the ashes of a particularly scandalous conflagration a few years ago, Toronto-based doom metal outfit Witchrot has been steadily making a name for itself by putting out dark, deep, and heavy doom metal to break your neck to. With their latest album Soul Cellar set to release this coming May, we at MetalSucks have the privilege of unveiling a new, heavy as fuck track titled “Throat Cutter”.

Clocking in at just under seven minutes, this hard-hitting offering features booming rhythms from bassist Nick Dolphin and drummer Myles Deck that plod their way through the song while guitarist Peter Turik slams you over the head with chunky, fuzzy riffs. All the while, vocalist Lea Alyssandra Reto explodes behind the mic.

Speaking of the track itself, the band explained the song’s rather brutal and gory origin.

“Throat Cutter” is specifically based on an experience Peter had witnessing his dog’s eye being ripped out. The video incorporates an amalgam of imagery and textures caught on tape, true MK Ultra style. Our friend who made the video (@crtinvasion) felt the song and video together were possessed. He was sure he would have to offer blood to the final tapes.

Soul Cellar will be released on May 23 via Fuzzed and Buzzed/Majestic Mountain Records, but you can preorder your copy today.
