GoFundMe Started to Fund Evergreen Terrace’s Craig Chaney’s “Complete Organ Transplant”
Welcome to the latest edition of “America’s healthcare system continues to fail us, so here’s a chance for you to help a musician pay for a dire medical emergency, sponsored by GoFundMe”. This time around, we’ve got Evergreen Terrace guitarist and vocalist Craig Chaney, who unfortunately needs a “complete organ replacement” if he’s going to survive the next few years.
There’s very little information about what might have caused this medical emergency, but it doesn’t sound cheap. Started by Chaney himself, a GoFundMe campaign is seeking to raise $22,000. At the time of this posting, he’s managed to generate $14,902 from 195 donors, which is a nice chunk of his goal.
In a statement posted on the GoFundMe page, Chaney gave a little explainer as to why he needs to seek the help of strangers during such a difficult time.
“Many of you were inquiring about my absence at the last Evergreen show. Unfortunately I was in the hospital for several days having blood work done only to discover that I need a complete organ replacement in order to survive. Without it I only have a few years left. I was hesitant to create this but the expenses will be far greater than I can handle alone.
“I’d love to see my daughters graduate and witness the greatness they are destined to attain. The same goes for my nieces. I also can’t wait to get back on the road and see your faces. Anything will help. There is no finite number that we have been given. Pre-care, replacement surgery, post-care…”
Chaney joined Evergreen Terrace back in 2000 after original guitarist Joshua Willis left the band. He’s been featured in each of the band’s releases since.
I can’t imagine what he’s going through. If you have the means and inclination, you can help a man try to survive what sounds like a catastrophic turn of events by contributing to his GoFundMe.
