Lo-Pan Get Hazy with Their Latest Single “Northern Eyes”
There’s nothing quite like a good stoner metal track to get you going on a beautiful day. And thankfully, Ohio-based outfit Lo-Pan are here with their latest single “Northern Eyes” off their forthcoming album Get Well Soon.
Featuring fuzzy guitar riffs from Chris Thompson, pounding rhythms from bassist Scott Thompson and drummer Jesse Bartz, and some well-executed vocals from Jeff Martin, the track has a certain melodic quality that evokes a good time. At least it does in my pot-riddled mind…
According to Martin, the song is about “light vs. dark and the ongoing war for hearts and minds.” For Scott Thompson though, it’s also an example of how the band likes to fuck around with the building blocks of music to make great tunes.
“This song is a great example of how we like to balance odd time signatures with steady rhythms to keep things sounding like waves crashing.”
Set for release on April 4, Get Well Soon will be the band’s sixth full-length release and a follow up to their 2019 album Subtle. You can pre-order your copy today.
