Glenn Danzig Might Disappoint with Singles, Rather Than with New Danzig or Misfits Albums

Remember how Glenn Danzig used to put out good music? Of course, you do. Dude put out some serious bangers first as the Misfits‘ frontman and then as a solo act (along with other projects). But that Danzig and today’s Danzig are not the same — case and point: Danzig Sings Elvis.

During a recent interview with Abe Kanan of the 98 Rock radio station (as transcribed by Blabbermouth), Danzig was asked if there would ever be a new Misfits album coming out in the near future and mercifully, he said no. Though the promise of hurting his own legacy, as well as the Misfits’, seems too great for our favorite diminutive New Jersey native.

“Maybe a song. Not an album. No. [Laughs] Look, people now just wanna download your stuff for free, and they don’t understand that it costs money to go in a studio and record a record. So it’s not really a great business model to go and record a record and then not be able to recoup your money that you spent making the record. So, with Danzig, it might be like the Misfits — maybe I’ll record a song or two and just release it, and it won’t cost that much.

“In the beginning, the Misfits only released singles. We couldn’t afford to put out an album. But a lot of the punk bands, that’s how it was — you couldn’t afford to do an album, especially if you were underground. You weren’t on a big label, [so] you could only afford to do a single. So maybe I’ll do that for Danzig, and maybe we’ll do it for the Misfits. We’ll see.”

Danzig’s opinion that singles might be the way moving forward isn’t novel. Plenty of artists have considered just releasing an occasional single, rather than a full album. Given how the economy’s going and how people consume music in 2025, it kinda makes sense, really.

Now if only we could get old school Glenn Danzig back…
