Volbeat Announce ‘God Of Angels Trust’, Drop New Single “By A Monster’s Hand”
Four years after the release of their album Servant of the Mind, Danish metal band Volbeat have announced that they’re back with a new slate of tunes with the impending release of God Of Angels Trust this coming June.
According to the band, writing on the album started shortly after the release of their 2021 album, though vocalist Michael Poulsen said that he took a more unconventional approach to writing things this time.
“In the past, I’ve taken a long time to write and obsessed over so many elements of the songs before finishing them. This time, I wanted to make a Volbeat record without thinking too much about it. Instead of following any kind of structure I said, ‘Okay, there are no rules. I can do anything I want. I can start with a chorus or do songs that are just a bunch of verses stacked on top of each other. Anything goes.’ That was freeing for me and made it exciting to write this album.”
In addition to the album’s announcement, the band released its first single and accompanying music video, “By a Monster’s Hand”. If you’ve ever heard a Volbeat song, this track won’t really shock you one way or the other. It’s very much one of those tracks.
And if you thought that was enough Volbeat for one post, you’d be mistaken. Along with the album announcement and the single, the band unveiled an almost irresponsibly long tour run, with stops in North America, the E.U. and U.K. The “Greatest of All Tours” run will start on June 7 in Vancouver, BC and with some breaks in between legs, they’ll finish their live run on November 13 in London, U.K.
God Of Angels Trust will be released on June 6 via Vertigo/Universal, but you can preorder your copy today.
