Ghost Unveil Papa V Perpetua’s Badass Look, Detail New Album Skeletá’, Streams “Satanized”
He’s finally here. After months of wondering what Ghost‘s “next” frontman will look like and how the rest of the band will change as a result, we finally have a glimpse not just at Papa V Perpetua’s badass getup, but we have a new song, a new album announcement, and a whole ass world tour to mull over too.
It turns out that the hints we reported on last month were right on the money. The first single off the newly announced album Skeletá is titled “Satanized”. And as most of Ghost’s singles as of late, it’s big, anthemic, and catchy as hell. Seriously, thanks to this upcoming release, we’re sure to have even more instances of metal fans either professing their love of this band or shitting all over its gimmick.
As for the rest of the album, Skeletá will be released on April 25 via Loma Vista Recordings. The album is described as follows:
“GHOST’s sixth psalm, SKELETÁ, is its most unflinchingly introspective work to date. Where previous GHOST albums dealt largely with chronicling and/or observing outward facing subject matter—such as IMPERA’s meditations on the rise and fall of empires and its predecessor Prequelle’s evocations of the ravages of era-defining plagues—SKELETA’s lyrics render the distinct individual emotional vistas of each of its 10 songs in one-on-one fashion, at times as if in a dialogue with oneself in a mirror. The end result is a singular collection of timeless, universal sentiments, all filtered through a prism of a uniquely personal point of view.”
Having listened to the new single a few times now, this thing is going to kill in a live setting.
And speaking of a live setting, the band also unveiled an ambitious world tour that’s set to kick off in a month’s time. Dubbed the ‘Skeletour World Tour’, its entire run of 55 dates will kick off on April 15 in Manchester, U.K. and will hit both Europe and North America, with the whole shebang ending on September 25 in Mexico City. Of particular interest is the band’s first-ever headlining show at New York City’s Madison Square Garden, which should be absolutely massive. The full list of dates is available below.
