Avast, Mateys: Alestorm Announce Their Eighth Studio Album ‘The Thunderfist Chronicles’
Like a big black Jolly Roger hoisted up into the sky, a new alert’s been making its way across the internet in recent days, as pirate metal stalwarts Alestorm announced a brand new album coming out this summer. And if you’re into the whole yar-har-fiddledy-dee side of metal, you’re going to want to take note for this one.
Set for release on June 20, Alestorm’s forthcoming album The Thunderfist Chronicles is the band’s eighth full-length studio effort and their follow up to 2022 album Seventh Rum of a Seventh Rum. And if any of that rings a bell and sharpens your cutlass, then you’re probably already gearing up to raid some shit or something.
Speaking about the album, vocalist and keytarist Christopher Bowles said The Thunderfist Chronicles‘ eight new tracks are a blast to take in, with some special additions along the way that separate it from the rest of the band’s discography.
“This album is weird and full of difficult riffs that I already regret. There’s a bunch of fun things to discover on the record though – we’ve got a cover of a song by our friends in Nekrogoblikon, a whole lot of other heavy stuff, plus the longest song I’ve ever written (over 17 minutes long) which features guest vocals from Patty Gurdy (everyone’s favorite hurdy gurdy player) and Sir Russel Allen (Symphony X singer and my favorite vocalist of all time).”
Though there’s no new music to coincide with the album’s announcement, the band said fans can expect some new tunes to hit the internet’s high seas in the very near future.
The Thunderfist Chronicles will be released on June 20 via Napalm Records, but you can preorder your copy today.
