Ex-Dream Theater Drummer Mike Mangini’s New Band Monolith Dropped Their First Single

When news broke back in October 2023 that Dream Theater had reunited with Mike Portnoy, it was immediately apparent that now former drummer Mike Mangini was the odd man out. He’d said he “understood” the reunion and left the band with grace.

Now, having released a solo album shortly after his departure, he’s got a new band called Monolith that earlier today had just dropped their first single, “Oligarchs”. The band is comprised of Hernán “Motley” Rodríguez on bass, Andy Barrow on guitar, and Mangini (naturally) on drums. As we wait for additional news… maybe some tour dates or an album announcement… that’s all we know at this time.
