Ex-Carnivore Guitarist Marc Piovanetti Arrested for Allegedly Luring and Sexually Assaulting a Child
Okay, this is another one of those stories where I suggest you maybe go get a puppy or a kitty or maybe even a stuffed animal, if you have one, and hold them close to remind you of the good things in the world while you read this absolutely horrific story. Okay, now that you have that taken care of: Marc Piovanetti, who has played guitar for long-running crossover thrash band Carnivore on and off for years and as recently as 2022, has been arrested for allegedly luring a minor to his home and sexually assaulting them.
According to a press release from the prosecutor’s office in Bergen County, New Jersey, the New York City Police Department tipped off the police department in Fort Lee, New Jersey on February 23 about a missing child between the ages of 13-16 who was believed to be in the Fort Lee area. It was discovered that Piovanetti allegedly met up with the child on a social media app called TurnUp, met up with them, and then offered the child cannabis, brought them back to his home and sexually assaulted them. Police also found another child under the age of 13 was also in his presence. Piaovanetti was charged with four counts of second-degree sexual assault, second-degree luring, second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, and two counts of third-degree endangering the welfare of a child.
If that story wasn’t completely fucked up enough, it also turns out that Marc Piovanetti’s wife, Jennifer Piovanetti, was allegedly home the whole time and fully aware of what her husband was doing with both children involved. Jennifer Piovanetti was also arrested and charged with second-degree endangering the welfare of a child and and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child.
According to Metal Injection, this isn’t the first time that Piovanetti has been charged with a crime like this. In 2017 he was placed on the sex offender registry and sentenced to ten years probation for the rape of a child under 15 years old, which sounds like an incredibly light sentence for such a crime.
Naturally, in America, one is innocent until proven guilty, but holy shit does this dude look guilty right now. We’ll have to wait to see what comes of the subsequent trial.
