Doomsday Release Title Track to Their Debut LP ‘Never Known Peace’

A couple years ago, I was far too excited to put a young crossover thrash metal outfit out of Oakland, California named Doomsday in front of your peepers. These guys put out one hell of an EP titled Depictions Of Chaos and their tunes fucking ripped. So you can imagine my surprise and excitement when I learned that not only were they skill kicking ass as a unit, but that they’ve got their first full-length LP coming out next month through Creator-Destructor Records.

Titled Never Known Peace, this upcoming album is definitely something you’re gonna want to keep an eye on if you’re a thrash metal loyalist. In the past they’ve listed thrash titans Sepultura, Slayer, Iron Age, Metallica, and Power Trip as their main influences and while you can tell that to be the absolute truth, they also bring something fresh to the sound. They’re no carbon copy of their idols — they’re raw as fuck.

Along with the album announcement, they released the title track as its most recent single. And much like I said in the past about their previous works, you’re going to be hard pressed to listen to it and not want to open up a circle pit in your mother’s basement or wherever you are right now.

Speaking of the track, vocalist Charlie D. said it’s all about being able to express the hardships while still putting out a motherfucker of a track.

“I wanted this song to reflect how I felt being at my lowest while still having the most ass-beater song we’ve ever written. I don’t want to be a metal band that is afraid to talk about our most vulnerable moments. The feeling of being irredeemable, of being beyond saving and wanting to end it all is something we’ve all felt in some way or another; having this inner turmoil, never knowing any peace, and feeling like you’ve always have and will be this way. We got really inspired by Chaos A.D. by Sepultura with this track, especially by ‘Propaganda,’ and we wanted to channel the energy of that song, and I definitely feel like we delivered. Having something that you can both headbang and mosh to is the D-Day motto.”

Never Known Peace will be released on March 28 via Creator-Destructor Records, but you can preorder your copy today.
