…and Oceans’ Announce New Album ‘The Regeneration Theory’, “Inertiae” Now Streaming

Symphonic black metal outfit …and Oceans announced their seventh full-length effort The Regeneration Theory earlier today while simultaneously unveiling its first single, “Inertiae”.

According to the band, the new album pulls from their 30-year career, taking their black and death metal sound and meshing it with elements of symphonic, industrial and electronic metal. That approach, they said, allows them to strike “a balance between darkness and light.”

The new single falls within that description, thanks to its chaotic symphonic black metal opening that falls into a deep, hypnotic industrial trance beat. As the first track on the album, the band say it effectively “serves as a prelude to The Regeneration Theory‘s labyrinthine odyssey.”

Vocalist Mathias Lillmåns explained a little more about the single and i ts place in the album’s overarching narrative.

“Inertiae, the bringer of paralysis, the guardian of my sleep. The one that opens my eyes, keeps my flesh in stasis and my mind barely touching the surface. This track is a dialog, like a servant addressing his master, between me and the bane of my slumber.”

The Regeneration Itinerary will be released on May 23 via Season of Mist, but you can preorder and pre-save your copy today.
