Buckcherry’s Josh Todd Says Rock Bands Can Still Find an Audience “If You’ve Got Great Songs”

0

I never thought I’d hear myself agreeing on anything with the guy who sang “Crazy Bitch,” but after hearing the stupid statements from old men like KissGene Simmons or Twisted Sister’s Jay Jay French about how “rock is dead,” it’s refreshing to hear someone take the opposite position. Even if it is the dude from fucking Buckcherry of all people.

In a recent interview with Evan Toth (that was transcribed by Blabbermouth), Buckcherry frontman Josh Todd gave his opinion on whether or not rock bands can still make a mark today:

“In my opinion, it’s still about melody. If you’ve got great melody, if you’ve got great songs, you’re going to find an audience. That’s just it. And I just think you’ve gotta have great songs, you’ve gotta have songs you can remember you, you’ve gotta be unforgettable, especially now because information is spread so thin and people’s attention span now is brutal. It’s, like, you’ve got five seconds to get somebody’s attention online. And so you’ve gotta have great songs and you’ve gotta have a story and you’ve gotta know who you are, and if you can put all that together, you can have success.”

Yeah, that’s absolutely true. There’s plenty of great rock bands out there right now, but it takes a bit more effort to get people’s attention in the digital age. But the recent popularity of bands like Knocked Loose proves that there is still a market for good rock music, even if it’s not as easy to break into that market as it was in the ‘80s or ‘90s. So please shut up about rock being dead.
