After nine years of absolutely shredding for The Black Dahlia Murder, guitarist Brandon Ellis took so social media earlier today to announce his departure from the band.

In a statement that reflected on his time within the melodic death metal outfit, he warmly looked back on the tunes he contributed to, his time with the late Trevor Strnad, and explained that he’s looking forward to what comes next.

“I have recently parted ways with The Black Dahlia Murder.

“I’m grateful for my 9 years spent with this iconic band, and to have had the rare honor of making music with the legendary Trevor Strnad. I’m proud of my contributions to the band’s legacy and of all that we’ve accomplished together.

“Unfortunately, the time has come that I must close this chapter and begin the next.

“I’d like to thank the fans for the mountains of support they’ve afforded us all over the years, and I wish the band the best in all future endeavors.”

This news comes after the band announced the postponement of their upcoming Latin American tour, though vocalist Brian Eschbach said that decision stemmed from his need to deal with some health issues that have cropped up. Those dates have been pushed back to December.

Ellis joined The Black Dahlia Murder back in 2016 after Ryan Knight departed from the band. He was featured on the three full-length albums that came out during that time: 2017’s Nightbringers, 2020’s Verminous, and last year’s Servitude.

Shortly after Ellis’ announcement, The Black Dahlia Murder contacted MetalSucks to provide a statement, offering their now former guitarist a fond farewell as both parties amicably look forward to the future.

“We wanna thank Brandon Ellis for his 9 years of service and wish him the best of luck in all future endeavors”
