S.O.D. Tribute Announced for Milwaukee Metal Fest, Death Angel to Replace Destruction on Bill

We’re just a couple months out from the insanely stacked Milwaukee Metal Fest and the folks behind the show are still not done bolstering the three-day event’s lineup. Just yesterday, they announced that there would be a Stormtroopers of Death tribute act featuring S.O.D. guitarist Scott Ian and bassist Danny Lilker, Hatebreed frontman Jamey Jasta, Ian’s son Revel Ian on drums.

In light of yesterday’s announcement, festival organizers talked that the moment was a special one for anyone that didn’t get to see the band perform decades ago.

“Sargent D is coming!!! Like previous years at MMF we have another special tribute set to announce! A tribute to S.O.D. that features both Scott Ian from Anthrax and Danny Lilker from Nuclear Assault + Jamey Jasta from Hatebreed handling vocals and Scott’s son Revel Ian doing drum duty! Scott has a long history w/ MMF having headlined the festival w/ Anthrax, Mr. Bungle & S.O.D. It’s an honor to have him back in 2025.”

For those that don’t know (and you probably should at this point…) Stormtroopers of Death was a crossover thrash band that formed in 1985 featuring Lilker and Ian, Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante, and vocalist Billy Milano. They had two albums: 1985’s Speak English Or Die and 1999’s Bigger Than The Devil.

As for the other announcement, festival organizers revealed that Destruction was no longer able to perform at this year’s event. In an effort to fill the empty slot, organizers announced that they’d managed to land Death Angel in their place.

The Milwaukee Metal Fest will once again take place at The Rave/Eagles Ballroom from May 16 to 18, with a pre-party scheduled to take place on May 15. You can find the full three-day lineup below.
