New Wednesday 13 Album ‘Mid Death Crisis’ Announced, Single “When The Devil Commands” Out Now

0

It’s been a couple years since their last release, so I guess it’s only fitting that we’re being assaulted with the announcement of a new album from horror punk outfit Wednesday 13. Set to release on April 25 via Napalm Records, Mid Death Crisis is the band’s follow up to 2022’s Horrifier and will feature 12 new tracks.

Fresh off the dome of the “Duke of Spook” as it were, the new album is described as a “fun, campy, ‘leave-your-brain-at-the-door’” kind of release. And to leave that description in no uncertain terms, Wednesday 13 released the album’s first single, “When The Devil Commands”. As you can tell from the thumbnail for the video below, it’s sure to be classy.

Speaking of the song and its accompanying music video, Wednesday 13 said it’s all a reflection of that old chestnut — 1980s style Satanic panic.

“Growing up in the 80s, I remember the satanic panic of heavy metal music and parents’ concern over what their kids were listening to. My mother was constantly checking my cassettes and making sure I wasn’t possessed by the devil. Most of the music that I listened to never had any of those themes, but they were just accused of it. So when writing the lyrics to this song, I wrote what I thought would terrify my mother if she had stumbled upon this music. I wanted the lyrics to be upfront and leave no question as to what they were about… the Devil. This song is done in a fun spirit, and we don’t plan on burning any churches in the future.”

Mid Death Crisis will be released on April 25 via Napalm Records, but you can preorder your copy today.
