Black Sabbath’s Last Show Just Got Bigger by Adding Guns N’ Roses, Tool, and Rival Sons
Having sold out in minutes, Black Sabbath’s “Back to the Beginning” show has quickly become one of the most important events of 2025 in metal. And while it was recently revealed that Ozzy Osbourne would be limited in his ability to perform during the July 5 show at Birmingham’s Villa Park, the show’s only gotten bigger with the inclusion of Guns N’ Roses, Tool and Rival Sons on the already ridiculously stacked lineup.
For those that haven’t been paying attention, the current lineup of bands set to perform during the momentous occasion is as follows:
- Metallica
- Guns N’ Roses
- Slayer
- Pantera
- Tool
- Gojira
- Alice In Chains
- Halestorm
- Lamb Of God
- Anthrax
- Mastodon
That’s ludicrous, but the band lineup doesn’t even include the veritable who’s who of major metal performers confirmed to show up that day. We’re talking folks like Limp Bizkit’s Fred Durst, ex-Megadeth bassist David Ellefson, Faith No More’s Mike Bordin, Sammy Hagar, and Ghost’s Papa V Perpetua — just to name a few.
And aside from all of the stars coming out to see Ozzy and Black Sabbath off into the sunset, it shouldn’t get lost in the sauce that this will be the first time that Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward will play together in 20 years.
It’s unclear just how this show will pan out, given the fact that the entire event revolves around a group of dudes in their 70s that play sporadically at best or can barely walk at worst. It’s a shame we won’t get as much time with Ozzy performing on stage as we’d hope, since the man’s health issues have caused him to drop entire tours and other appearances in recent years.
Whatever we get on July 5, it will be good to know that one of metal’s most iconic bands and iconic figures will get to finally fully retire.
