The Amity Affliction’s Ex-Vocalist Ahren Stringer Releases Statement on Departure

Our guy Ahren Stringer has really been going through it lately. The now-former vocalist and bassist of The Amity Affliction announced the split last month, with the band giving some details on it last week. Now, Stringer has shared his statement.

He took to his social media to give a brief but telling update of his own that really makes it seem like this breakup will be forever….

Stringer said yesterday (February 15):

Not tryna start anymore shit BUT I have been kicked out of my band. I will NEVER play with The Amity Affliction (who blocked me btw) love you all x.

Damn. They blocked him? That is so… high school? I guess that isn’t surprising, though, since the statement they put out was pretty telling. We can’t forget that he’s caused quite a few problems for them the last few years, including fuckin with their money when it came to having to cancel tour dates and all that jazz. It’s not like he really tried to do it intentionally, since addiction and mental health issues are a fuckin bitch to have to deal with, and that’s an understatement.

“We acknowledge that we have all had our fair share of issues over the years,” the band wrote on February 14. “But sadly, over time the relationship between Ahren and the band has completely broken down while he has been dealing with challenging elements of his personal life.” Other parts of their statement allude to Stringer’s numerous slipups and his admitted disdain for continuing to tour with the band.

Ultimately, they did land on somewhat of an okay note, saying “The music we’ve created with Ahren will forever bind us and we are thankful for the good times we had together. We wish Ahren all the best in his personal and professional future.”
