Pelican Announce Their First New Album in Six Years, “Cascading Crescent” Streaming Now
Years after the release of 2019’s Nighttime Stories and roughly 16 years since the release of 2009’s What We All Come To Need, which was the last to feature founding guitarist Laurent Schroeder-Lebecre, Pelican is back and gearing up for the release of their new album Flickering Resonance.
Announced yesterday, the new album will feature eight new tracks, including the album’s first single “Cascading Crescent.” You can check out that new track either below, on your favorite digital streaming service, or as a limited edition 7″ single. That latter option includes a b-side version of the track featuring vocals contributed by Thrusday’s Geoff Rickly.
Speaking of the album, guitarist Trevor Shelley de Brauw said this album was only possible because the band was able to forge on without Schroeder-Lebec, who’d gone on a ten year sabbatical.
“When Laurent left and we were able to carry it through, there became a real sense of gratitude for the fact we still have this artistic outlet and a community of people who want to support it.”
Flickering Resonance will be released on May 16 via Run For Cover, but you can preorder and pre-save your copy today. You can also catch them live starting next month as they tour North America with Russian Circles. Those dates, along with their European tour dates later this year, can be found below.
