Godswounds’ Announce New Album ‘Cheer Up Sunshine’, “Tantamount Love” Streaming Now
Do you like your rock on the more experimental side of the spectrum? Like Mr. Bungle’s weirdness but can totally live without hearing Mike Patton’s general madness over the mix? Then maybe you’ll want to check out Godswounds, the experimental rock band based out of Sydney, Australia that’s got a new album titled Cheer Up Sunshine coming out at the end of the month via Sonichimaera.
Comprised of Lachlan Kerr, Muel Howell (drums), Sam Sheumack (guitar), Simeon Bartholomew (bass), Paul Murchison (horns), special guest Toshi Kasai (vocals, guitar, sitar, mandolin, sanshin), and Danny Heifetz (Mr. Bungle) on drums, the band’s got that whole “too many cooks in the kitchen” vibe but it still works.
In conjunction with the new album’s announcement, the band dropped their new single “Tantamount Love,” which you can check out below. Speaking of the song, the band got a little weird with the following statement.
“Etched onto the stationary of a hotel notepad, the late, great Freddie Mercury left clues to the original title of Queen’s famed ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’. What was it originally called? Why, ‘Mongolian Rhapsody’, of course! ‘Tantamount Love’ is our take on what a Mongolian Rhapsody could be: A high-energy, psychedelic history of the rise and rise again of the Mongolian Empire, full of sound and fury.”
Cheer Up Sunshine will be released on February 28 via Sonichimaera, but you can preorder your copy today.
