Hey “B.A.B.E.” — Scowl’s New Single is Streaming Now
Hardcore outfit Scowl have returned and they’ve brought the latest single from their forthcoming album Are We All Angels. The track, titled “B.A.B.E.” is catchy but also manages to pack a punch at the same time. After listening to it, I kinda get the vibe that if there were a new Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater game coming out in 2025, this would definitely be on the soundtrack.
But don’t think this is a love song with that title. According to the band, “B.A.B.E.” stands for “Burned At Both Ends”, as in the candle burning at both ends. Like you’re overextending yourself. The band explains it better than I can.
“Burned At Both Ends is another explosion of emotions stemming from both overwhelm and excitement. We felt that the song’s punchy nature and quick switches from melody to scrapping angst resembles a mature version of “Shot Down” from our Psychic Dance Routine EP. Lyrically, B.A.B.E dives into our vitriol for the extreme circumstances we as a band subject ourselves too in order to live our dreams.”
“B.A.B.E.” is the second single to come from the band’s forthcoming album, with the first being “Not Heaven, Not Hell” released last month. Are We All Angels is the band’s sophomore full-length release and their follow up to 2021’s How Flowers Grow.
Are We All Angels will be released on April 4 via Dead Oceans, but you can preorder your copy today.
