Details Emerge in Plane Crash: Vince Neil Not On Board, Pilot Killed, Neil’s Girlfriend Injuried
The runway crash of an airplane owned by Mötley Crüe frontman Vince Neil broke late yesterday with scarce details aside from the fact that one person died, three people on the plane were hospitalized, and one was trapped on the plane for “an extended period of time.” The identity of who was on the plane exactly and who died weren’t immediately available, leading to a lot of fear and speculation as to what happened. Some more details have since emerged, with statements being made by Mötley Crüe that shed some light on the situation.
According to a pair of statements made by the band, the person who died in the incident was the pilot. Vince Neil, although he owned the plane, was not on board, however his girlfriend, Rain, and one of her friends were on the plane and they both suffered injuries that were not life threatening.
A statement from Neil’s representative Worrick Robinson IV was released on social media late last night, reading:
“At 2:39 p.m. local time, a Learjet aircraft Model 35A owned by Vince Neil was attempting to land at the Scottsdale Airport. For reasons unknown at this time, the plane veered from the runway causing it to collide with another parked plane. On board Mr. Neil’s plane were two pilots and two passengers. Mr. Neil was not on the plane.
“More specific details regarding the collision are not available as this is a rapidly evolving situation and there is an ongoing investigation. Mr. Neil’s thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved, and he is grateful for the critical aid of all first responders assisting today.

Another statement from the band, which was reported on by Blabbermouth, clarified the situation further, saying:
“Earlier today a private plane owned by Vince Neil was involved in a crash near Scottsdale, AZ. The pilot was tragically killed; the co-pilot and other passengers were taken to local hospitals. Vince was not on the plane. Vince’s girlfriend and her friend suffered injuries, albeit not life threatening. While details are still emerging, our hearts go out to the families of both the pilot who lost his life and the passengers who suffered injuries.
“MÖTLEY CRÜE will announce a way to help support the family of the deceased pilot – stand by for an announcement very soon.”
TMZ provided a few more details, saying that Rain broke five ribs in the incident and that the dogs that the women were traveling with also survived the incident.
